Question 6 (Page 179) In what situations would you use decantation instead of filtration to separate solids from liquids?If Solid is soluble in Liquid then we cannot use Filtration and Decantation Example:- Salt in Water is Separated through Evaporation not Decantation or Filtration If Solid is insoluble in Liquid then we can use either Filtration or Decantation If Solid settles at bottom we can drain the liquid and separate using Decantation Example:- Sand in Water If Solid doesn’t settle at bottom, we have to use Filtration Example:- Mud in Water
