Compare the areas and perimeters of Sharan’s house and Charan’s house. When dimensions are given as Length × Width, the first number represents the length. Second number represents Width (or Breadth) So, if we are given rectangle 5 × 10, it means Length is 5 Breadth is 10 Now, let’s label our sides in the diagram Now, we have to answer What are the dimensions of all the different rooms in Sharan’s house? Compare the areas and perimeters of Sharan’s house and Charan’s house. Let’s find the missing measurements and area of his house Toilet: Dimensions = 5 ft × 10 ft Area = 5 × 10 = 50 sq ft Utility: Dimensions = 7 ft × 10 ft Area = 7 × 10 = 70 sq ft Small Bedroom: Dimensions = 12 ft × 10 ft Area = 12 × 10 = 120 sq ft Hall: Dimensions = 23 ft × 15 ft Area = 23 × 15 = 345 sq ft Entrance: Dimensions = 7 ft × 15 ft Area =7 × 15 = 105 sq ft Area Comparison: Both houses have same area, 1050 square ft Perimeter Comparison : Charan's House Perimeter = 2 × (35 + 30) = 130 ft Sharan's House Perimeter = 2 × (42 + 25) = 134 ft Thus, Sharan's house has a larger perimeter.
