Question 1 Explore and figure out how many pieces have the same area. Area is the amount of space a shape takes. To check if two shapes have the same area, we Separate the shape Superimpose shape on other shapes If it is fully covered, then the shapes have same area Let’s check it out Shape A Shape A is big, so we check it with Shape B Since A & B overlap Shapes A & B have same area Shape D Shape D is a square, and no other shape is a square Thus, it doesn’t have same area to any shape Shape F Shape F is big triangle and doesn’t overlap with the other triangles A, B, C, E. Thus, it doesn’t have same area to any shape Shape G Shape G is a parallelogram, and no other shape is a parallelogram Thus, it doesn’t have same area to any shape Shape C Shape C could be similar to Shape E, let’s check Since C & E overall Shapes C & E have same area
