Square root Just like subtraction is the opposite of addition, Square root is the opposite of squaring Squaring Number = 3 Square of number = 3^2 = 9 β΄ Square root of 9 = 3 We write βπ=π Symbol of square root βπ or β(π&π) Square root It is called root 9 or square root of 9 Square Roots Examples 12 = 1 22 = 4 32 = 9 42 = 16 52 = 25 62 = 36 72 = 49 82 = 64 92 = 81 102 = 100 β1 = 1 β4 = 2 β9 = 3 β16 = 4 β25 = 5 β36 = 6 β49 = 7 β64 = 8 β81 = 9 β100 = 10 Finding Square root of a number Letβs assume we want to find square root of 64 Now, we know that 82 = 8 Γ 8 = 64 But, also (β8)2 = 82 = 8 Γ 8 = 64 Thus, square root of 64 are 8 and β8 We write it as βππ=Β±π In this chapter, we will only focus on positive square root
