Finding Square of Large Numbers Find Square of 23 232 = 23 × 23 = (20 + 3) × (20 + 3) = (20 + 3)2 Using (a + b)2 = a2 + b2 + 2ab = 202 + 32 + 2 × 20 × 3 = 400 + 60 + 60 + 9 = 529 Find Square of 39 392 = 39 × 39 = (40 – 1) × (40 – 1) = (40 – 1)2 Using (a – b)2 = a2 + b2 – 2ab = 402 + 12 – 2 × 40 × 1 = 1600 + 1 – 80 = 1601 – 80 = 1521
