Question 3 - Page 133 (a) Think and mark the positions as directed— (a) Mark ‘A’ at the point where Akshi will be after she ran 250 m. Akshi covered 220 m in one round Note that here Dots signify 10 m One full round is 220 m. After completing one round, she needs to run another 250 − 220 = 30 m. Starting from the bottom right corner, a 30 m run will place her on the left vertical side of the track, 30 m up from the bottom left corner. Question 3 - Page 133 (b) Think and mark the positions as directed— (b) Mark ‘B’ at the point where Akshi will be after she ran 500 m. Akshi covered 220 m in one round Note that here Dots signify 10 m This is two full rounds (2×220=440 m) plus an additional 500−440=60 m. From the starting point, 60 m will place her on the top horizontal side of the track, 10 m to the left of the top right corner. Question 3 - Page 133 (c) Think and mark the positions as directed— (c) Now, Akshi ran 1000 m. How many full rounds has she finished running around her track? Mark her position as ‘C’. Akshi covered 220 m in one round Note that here Dots signify 10 m This is four full rounds (4×220=880 m) plus an additional 1000−880=120 m. From the start, 120 m (70 m+40 m+10 m) places her on the top horizontal side, 10 m to the right of the top left corner. She has finished 4 full rounds. Question 3 - Page 133 (d) Think and mark the positions as directed— (d) Mark ‘X’ at the point where Toshi will be after she ran 250 m. Toshi covered 180 m in one round Note that here Dots signify 10 m This is one full round (180 m) plus an additional 250−180=70 m. From her starting point, 70 m (60 m+10 m) places her on the left vertical side of her track, 10 m up from the bottom left corner. Question 3 - Page 133 (e) Think and mark the positions as directed— (e) Mark ‘Y’ at the point where Toshi will be after she ran 500 m. Toshi covered 180 m in one round Note that here Dots signify 10 m This is two full rounds (2×180=360 m) plus an additional 500−360=140 m. From her start, 140 m (60 m+30 m+50 m) places her on the top horizontal side, 10 m to the right of the top left corner. Question 3 - Page 133 (f) Think and mark the positions as directed— (f) Now, Toshi ran 1000 m. How many full rounds has she finished running around her track? Mark her position as ‘Z’.Toshi covered 180 m in one round Note that here Dots signify 10 m After 5 full rounds, Toshi has covered 5×180 m=900 m. To find her final position, we track the remaining distance she ran. Remaining Distance: 1000 m − 900 m=100 m Therefore, her final position ('Z') is on the top horizontal side of the track, 10 m to the right of the top-left corner.
