Zöllner Illusion The Illusion: The long lines with the hatches on them don't appear parallel, but in fact they are. What Causes It: Your brain gets confused by the sharp angles where the small lines cross the long lines. It tries to make the sharp angles look bigger, which tricks your eyes into seeing the long lines as being tilted.
