Jump Jackpot In the "Jump Jackpot" game, a player named Grumpy places a treasure on a certain number, for example, 24. Another player, Jumpy, must choose a "jump size" and start jumping from 0, landing only on multiples of that chosen size. Jumpy wins the treasure only if one of his jumps lands on the number where Grumpy placed it. For treasure placed on 24, here are some possible outcomes: Jumpy could play it safe and choose jump size 1, his jumps would be 1→2→3→4 …. →23→24 If Jumpy chooses a jump size of 4, his jumps will be 4→8→12→16→20→24. This is a successful jump size. Other successful jump sizes for landing on 24 are 2, 3, 6, 8, and 12. He could also directly jump to 24, so that would make jump size 24 Thus, the successful jump sizes are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24 And, these numbers divide 24 exactly The numbers which divide 24 exactly are called factors of 24 Thus, Factors of 24 are 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24
