Question 11 The probability that a non leap year selected at random will contain 53 Sundays is (A) 1/7 (B) 2/7 (C) 3/7 (D) 5/7 A non leap year has 365 days Dividing by 7 Number of weeks in non-leap year = 365/7 = 𝟓𝟐 𝟏/𝟕 Thus, a non-leap year has 52 weeks, and 1 day extra That 1 extra day can be {Mon, Tues, Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat, Sun} Thus, Probability that a non leap year will contain 53 Sundays = (𝑁𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑆𝑢𝑛𝑑𝑎𝑦 𝑖𝑛 𝑎 𝑤𝑒𝑒𝑘)/(𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑛𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑑𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑎 𝑤𝑒𝑒𝑘) = 𝟏/𝟕 So, the correct answer is (A)
