Ex 13.1, 8 (Method 1 โ Direct Method) A class teacher has the following absentee record of 40 students of a class for the whole term. Find the mean number of days a student was absent. Here Class Size is not same, So, we solve by Direct Method ๐ฅ ฬ = 499/40 ๐ ฬ = 12.48 Therefore, Mean number of days a student was absent is 12.48 days Ex 13.1, 8 (Method 2 โ Step Deviation Method) A class teacher has the following absentee record of 40 students of a class for the whole term. Find the mean number of days a student was absent. Ex 13.1, 8 (Method 2 โ Step Deviation Method) A class teacher has the following absentee record of 40 students of a class for the whole term. Find the mean number of days a student was absent. Mean(๐ฅ ฬ ) = a + h ร (โโ๐๐๐๐)/(โโ๐๐) Where a = Assumed Mean Let h = Class interval Also, โโ๐๐ = 40 โโ๐๐๐๐ = โ90.5 Putting values in formula Mean(๐ ฬ ) = a + h ร (โโ๐๐๐๐)/(โโ๐๐) ๐ฅ ฬ = 17 + 2 ร (โ90.5)/40 ๐ฅ ฬ = 17 โ 4.525 ๐ ฬ = 12.475 Therefore, Mean number of days a student was absent is 12.48 days
