Question 7 The mass of equal volumes of gold and water are in the ratio 37 : 2. If 1 litre of water is 1 kg in mass, what is the mass of 1 litre of gold?Given that the mass of equal volumes of gold and water are in the ratio 37 : 2 So, we can say Mass of Gold : Mass of Water = 37 : 2 Given that 1 liter of water = 1 kg in mass And, now we have to find mass of 1 liter of gold Since both gold and water have same volumes, we can use the ratio as it says mass of equal volumes Thus, we can write (𝑴𝒂𝒔𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑮𝒐𝒍𝒅)/(𝑴𝒂𝒔𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑾𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓)=𝟑𝟕/𝟐 Since Mass of Water is given as 1kg (𝑀𝑎𝑠𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝐺𝑜𝑙𝑑)/(1 𝑘𝑔)=37/2 Mass of Gold = 37/2 kg Mass of Gold = 18.5 kg Thus, the mass of 1 litre of gold is 18.5 kg
