Real Life Proportion Examples Some Real life examples of Proportion are Cooking & Baking: To change the size of a recipe (like doubling a batch), all ingredient quantities must be increased proportionally to maintain the correct flavor and texture. Shopping & Cost: When buying items with a set unit price, the total cost is directly proportional to the quantity purchased (e.g., doubling the number of items doubles the cost). Map Scale & Distance: Maps use a scale ratio where a small measurement on the paper represents a proportionally much larger distance in the real world. Shadows & Height: At any given moment in time, the height of an object is directly proportional to the length of its shadow because the angle of the sun is the same for everyone.
