Question 7 (Page 76) A bar magnet has no markings to indicate its poles. How would you find out near which end its North pole is located without using another magnet? Suspend the bar magnet freely using a thread tied around its middle, so it can rotate in the horizontal plane Allow it to come to rest naturally The magnet will align itself in the north - south direction The end pointing towards the Geographic North is the North pole of the magnet The other end, pointing towards the Geographic South, is the South pole South Pole North Pole
