Coal has a high ignition temperature. So, lighting the matchstick to coal won’t heat the coal to reach its ignition temperature
A coal fire is started by
- A piece of cloth is dipped in kerosene oil and pieces of wood are arranged over it
- On top of wood, we put coal pieces
- We burn the kerosene oil using a matchstick
- Heat produced by kerosene cloth makes the wood pieces burn
- Wood produces a large amount of heat, which makes the coal pieces on top of it to reach its ignition temperature
