What do you mean by a modem? Why is it used?

 

Answer:

  • Modem stands for Modulator Demodulator. 
  • It is a device that converts digital signal to analog signal (modulator) at the sender’s side and converts back analog signal to digital signal   (demodulator) at the receiver’s end.  
  • It enables a computer to transmit data over telephone lines.
