Question 4 Given (𝐴𝐡) Μ… of length 3.9 cm, construct (𝑃𝑄) Μ… such that the length of (𝑃𝑄) Μ… is twice that of (𝐴𝐡) Μ… . Verify by measurement. (Hint : Construct (𝑃𝑋) Μ… such that length of (𝑃𝑋) Μ… = length of(𝐴𝐡) Μ… ; then cut off (𝑋𝑄) Μ…also has the length of (𝐴𝐡) Μ… .) We are given (𝐴𝐡) Μ… of length 3.9 cm We need to draw (𝑃𝑄) Μ… = 2 Γ— (𝐴𝐡) Μ… Let’s follow these steps 1. Draw a line l mark point P on it 2. Measure (𝐴𝐡) Μ… = 3.9 cm using compass 3. Now keeping compass opened the same length. We keep pointed end at point P, and draw an arc on line l So, (𝑃𝑋) Μ… = 3.9 cm. 4. Now keeping compass opened the same length. We keep pointed end at point X, and draw an arc on line l So, (𝑋𝑄) Μ… = 3.9 cm. And (𝑃𝑄) Μ… = 7.8 cm Thus, (𝑃𝑄) Μ… is twice that of (𝐴𝐡) Μ…
