Example 6 Find the cube root of 8000. Prime factorising 8000 2 | 8000 2 | 4000 2 | 2000 2 | 1000 2 | 500 2 | 250 5 | 125 5 | 25 5 | 5 | 1 We see that, 8000 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 5 × 5 × 5 Since 2 & 5 occur in triplets ∴ 8000 is a perfect cube Cube root of 8000 = 2 × 2 × 5 = 20
