Solutions to CBSE Sample Paper - English Class 11

Should students be allowed to use smartphones in schools? Taking a cue from the points given below and using your own ideas, write a debate speech for or against the topic in about 150 words.

  • Smartphones can be used for educational purposes, such as accessing online resources, taking notes, recording lectures, etc.
  • Smartphones can also be a source of distraction, addiction, and cyberbullying, affecting the academic performance and mental health of students.
  • Schools should have clear policies and guidelines on the use of smartphones, such as when, where, and how they can be used, and what are the consequences of misuse.

Answer as written by the student:

Good morning, respected principal, teachers, and my fellow students. Today, I am going to speak in favor of the topic: Should students be allowed to use smartphones in schools?

I believe that smartphones are not just devices for entertainment and communication, but also powerful tools for learning and creativity. Smartphones can be used for educational purposes, such as accessing online resources, taking notes, recording lectures, and more. For example, students can use smartphones to look up information on the internet, watch educational videos, listen to podcasts, or use apps that enhance their skills and knowledge. Smartphones can also help students with special needs, such as dyslexia, autism, or hearing impairment, by providing them with assistive features and apps.
