The characteristics of the Tropical Rain forests of India are:

  1.  Tropical Rain Forests are r estricted to heavy rainfall areas of India.
  2. They are at their best in areas having more than 200  cm of rainfall with a short dry season.
  3. The trees found in these forests reach great heights up to 60 meters or even above.
  4. Since the region is warm and wet throughout the year, it has luxuriant vegetation of all kinds:  trees, shrubs, and creepers giving it a multilayered structure.
  5. There is no definite time for trees to shed their leaves.
  6. As such, thes e forests appear green all year round.
  7. Some of the commercially important trees of this forest are ebony, mahogany, rosewood, rubber, and cinchona.
  8. The common animals found in these forests are elephants, monkeys, lemurs, and deer.
