Give one example of a situation in which

(i) the mean is an appropriate measure of central tendency

When the data does not change much, mean is an appropriate measure of central tendency.

For example -

  • Marks of a student in 5 tests
  •  7, 6, 6, 7 , 5
  • ∴ Mean  = (7 + 6 + 6 + 7 + 5)/5 = 31/5 = 6.2

Here 6.2 is an appropriate measure of central tendency
